Refund Policy

By accessing and using the UCD Cinema website the Customer accepts and agrees to be legally bound by the Terms and Conditions and acknowledges that UCD, the owner and administrator of the web site, has the right to amend or vary these Terms and Conditions and any of the contents of the web site from time to time at its sole discretion.

PLEASE NOTE: GENERALLY, TICKETS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT YOUR STATUTORY RIGHTS.

Refunds will be permitted only in exceptional circumstances and at the sole discretion of UCD Cinema management. Refunds can be processed no later than 4 hours before commencement of the relevant screening except where:

  • An exchange of tickets can be facilitated
  • An incorrect ticket type has been purchased that would prevent admission to the auditorium.

In such cases, Management will ensure that the correct tickets are issued and the correct payment received.

Tickets are not refundable because we sell tickets for specific screenings and set aside specific capacity for our customers. We also want to ensure that all of our guests have a fair opportunity to book tickets, so we try to encourage our customers to only book tickets for screenings which they know they can attend.

By booking tickets through the UCD Cinema website, the Customer is placing a booking order for tickets on the Terms and Conditions that is deemed only binding on UCD Cinema once payment has been made by the Customer and received by UCD Cinema and the Customer has been sent an email confirmation of their booking with their booking details.

The cancellation rights contained in the “European Communities (Protection of Consumers in respect of contracts made by means of Distance Communication (Reg 2001) as amended) do not apply to the sale of a cinema ticket.

We will consider your transfer request if it is received by email, to cinema@ucd.ie, no less than 6 hours before the scheduled screening;

In the event that you cannot attend a screening, pleae email cinema@ucd.ie with with a minimum of 6 hours in advance of the screening and we will be happy to transfer your booking to another screening.

An exchange will only be issued with a valid ticket or booking reference number. Customers who have purchased their ticket(s) in person must email the cinema, at cinema@ucd.ie, with a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the screening to avail of the transfer.

Under no circumstance will UCD Cinema refund or transfer tickets once a movie/show has commenced or been viewed. Management discretion will be used to ascertain if compensation is owed, however refunds are not possible after films or events have begun.

In the event that a refund is issued, Customers will only be refunded by the method of payment used at the time of initial booking.

If a breakdown should occur during the screening of a film, a choice of another film screening will be offered if the time frame allows it or a complementary pass will be issued, refunds will not be given. In the event that the breakdown can be resolved wtihin 45 minutes of the scheduled start time, no transfers or refunds will be issued.

Due to circumstances beyond UCD's control there may be times that a film has to be cancelled or shown at a different time. In this instance the customer may be given a complimentary ticket or avail of a transfer. UCD reserves the right to cancel a performance, vary the time of exhibition or substitute an alternative film, if this becomes necessary because of circumstances beyond our control.

Customers are advised to check the IFCO (Irish FIlm Classification Office) rating of the film they are attending, and refunds will not be given due to a dislike of the content presented in the film, or if the Customer is prevented from viewing the film due to failing to comply with the IFCO requirements. A refund will not be given if the movie is of personal dislike to you or if you are prevented from seeing the movie due to your failure to provide correct age identification.

A booking fee of €0.50c per ticket will apply to bookings made availing of the UCD Cinema internet booking system. This booking fee is the charge for the supply of the online booking service and the processing and verification of payment. If a Customer does not wish to pay this fee, it is possible to purchase tickets at UCD Cinema in person where the booking fee will not apply.

Circumstances where refunds will be issued

We believe in treating our customers fairly, and will always give you a refund where:

We make any material changes to the scheduled screening other than where we are entitled to do so under our terms and conditions (for example, if we change the screen time by more than 45 minutes, and the screening still proceeds).

You ask for one because we are in material breach of our terms and conditions that we have agreed with you; or We are otherwise required to by law. Nothing in this policy is intended to, or shall operate to, affect or limit your statutory rights where it would be unlawful to do so.

In the event of a breakdown in the cinema that prevents the screening from starting and we are unable to offer you an alternative screening time.

Circumstances where refunds will not be given

We will be under no obligation to refund you or exchange your ticket(s) if:

You request a refund simply because you have made an error when purchasing your tickets (for example, you have selected the wrong film, the wrong time, or the wrong number of tickets). It is your responsibility to check that your booking details are complete and accurate. However, this will not prevent you from claiming a refund on such tickets if you are otherwise entitled to a refund under this policy;

A breakdown has occured and an alternative screening time can be offered to the Customer;

You are excluded from viewing the film for any breach by you or your party of any of our applicable terms and conditions or guest admission policy;

Your ticket is lost, stolen or materially damaged; or

You fail to provide any identification, the credit or debit card you used to book, or any other information which we reasonably request in order to verify your purchase and process your refund.
